13.39lb Monster Mangrove
After a late start we limited out on red snapper and caught several nice mangrove snapper, including this 13.39lb monster. Not to bad for my first ever snapper trip. Good times with good friends. Thanks Trey, Jayme, Charles, and Savanha

Me, Casey Lablance, and Jake Folse headed down to Venice this morning to celebrate my 24th bday on a tuna trip with Casey's 24ft SKEETER and finally a dream come we landed a tuna of a life time after a 2 1/2 hour battle with my TIAGRA 30W LRSA I won the fight!!!! he finally broke the top!!!!! We couldnt believe the size of this monsta we had on side the BAY boat that was dead as can be!!!! Weighing in at 214LBS!!!!!!! on cypress coves marinas scale! This was the 3rd tuna that was over a 100 lbs that hit the deck of this boat in the pass 4 trips we made in the last year braking our record of 121 lbs!! This was the best bday a fishermen can ask for!

Anyone can tell me how long it takes to get certified to dive with tanks around the rigs I been free diving with my friends and shot mangroves but wana shoot grouper and ajs how much does it cost for all the equipment and to get certified and how dangerous is it do you need someone to dive with you? How deep can u go and how do you get air bubbles in ur head from diving with a tank and how deep should I start off goin?

Had Todd Dempsey and gang on the Deja Vu this past Saturday for Josh and we couldn't have asked for better weather. Left out early and made a direct line for the snapper hole. Took a minute to get things going but we made pretty quick work out of a nice limit of red snapper before the boat show arrived. With that out of the way, we headed south to see what the gulf had to offer. Stopped at some grass patches and put some good Mahi on ice. I fished the 3rd and 4th with the same crew. Fished hard in the morning for bait then landed a nice haul of snapper then took off for the tuna. Hit a few rigs on the way to where I knew they would be just in case I miss something the day before. No encouraging signs so we continued to move on. I figured it to be a late bite anyway. Sure enough, first bait out we hooked up. Good yellowfin, 60 to 80 class. Then as we were clearing baits to reset on the fish, a mahi came in charging on our bait. On Monday the 27th of may, we had the starting guard from TCU who happens to be the first team on our beloved Tigers schedule. This wasnt a problem for us today. If it were an Alabama player, well lets just say the report might be a little different. This biggest problem for us today was the 5 to 7 foot seas out of the south. After watching the eyes of our crew as we attempted to travel to the hotspot, I decided to take a beam sea to a place I knew would produce a good time for out crew from the lonestar state. Friday took off with a group of local guys to chase the yellowfin tuna. Blasted off from marina with the fountain early since the moon was making fish stop biting early. We left all hopes of catching live bait at home. We decided it wouldn't be wise since the fish would quit eating early. Instead we made our way to the hotspot to see three boats already there. We decided to pass them up for greener pastures. Turns out though it was blue. Really blue. Our decisions paid off today, we landed three nice yellowfin tuna with a few more small ones as well as nice marlin hookup on a popper. Took my son, Gray, and three of his friends from Fort Smith, Arkansas, fishing with Capt. Andy for their senior trip. The winds and seas were high and rough, but once again, Capt. Andy came through. He picked the right rig, and we limited out on red snapper in 30 minutes. The boys really enjoyed the experience of being in the Gulf and riding the surf with Capt. Andy. He is an extremely savvy and safe boat captain. We appreciate him starting the day with a prayer and ending the day by cleaning a limit of fish -- no matter what the weather does. Quick report from the last few days. The fishing was kind of hit or miss. The Yellow fin Tuna were extremely finicky but limits of Red Snapper came very quick. Best of all, the Mahi are showing up in good numbers. We did manage to land of few really nice fish including a 165lb yellow fin tuna a 38lb Bull Dolphin and a 21.5lb Red Snapper as well as some nice cobia and some huge black fin tuna over the last few days. Red meat worked best for the tuna with poppers and pogies hooking up the Mahi. Mitch and I will be back at beginning tomorrow.
